Who’s This Guy?
About Blue Ferret Communications
I spent my first few professional years in IT, working as an administrator for several companies. All the while I was called on for a lot of writing – newsletters, sales tips, web content, product descriptions, etc.
I soon found out my talent for putting complex information in an easy-to-understand format wasn’t as widespread as I thought! What seemed to come naturally to me baffled co-workers. So in 2002, after the dot-com bubble burst, I decided it was time for something new.
Thus Blue Ferret Communications was born.
I started out as a generalist, every-industry, I-do-it-all copywriter. (That got old fast.) After a while I realized I was a lot better at certain types of writing than others. I stink at hard-selling ad copy, for example. But I’m stellar at website content and case studies.
Now it’s 2010 and I’m still going. In the past year I’ve moved into social media – find me on Twitter. My site updates whenever a project (or a shiny object) isn’t distracting me.
Clients I Enjoy
IT/Technology Companies
(Examples: Software Developers, Consulting Firms, Web Apps/Services)
75% of my clients are tech-related companies. Having spent 6 years as an IT admin, I know the language and how to translate it to persuasive content. IT clients know they get content from me that’ll make customers nod their heads and realize they need your solution.
Startups
Aah, startups. A few people doing the work of a few dozen. Not much time for marketing there. B2B startups make excellent clients for me, because they already know the value of specialization. Outsourcing website development (including content) while you work on your product makes perfect sense.
Alternative Energy
This field’s starting to take off. However, it still has a very high sales curve to overcome. Beat it with lots of helpful information and regular, super-targeted marketing. That’s where I help out.
B2B Service Businesses
The more you grow, the more recognition you need online. Slice through the crowds an speak to the audience you know exists for your product.
